A hospitality business is managed every day. Its accounting, however, often only becomes visible weeks later.
Why current figures matter
More than 150,000 businesses make up Germany's restaurant and food-service sector. At the same time, only just over one third of newly founded hospitality businesses survive their first five years. Businesses operating on margins this tight need more than correct accounts. They need an up-to-date view of the operation.
Tax advisory firms also work under capacity pressure. BuchhaltIQ is not intended to replace the tax advisor. It is intended to improve the collaboration. The more clearly a client engagement is prepared, the less time the firm loses to queries, corrections and searching for the current status.

Preparation affects the workload
Germany's Tax Advisor Remuneration Ordinance links ongoing bookkeeping fees to the fee basis (the legal term is Gegenstandswert) and the actual scope of work. It expressly distinguishes between bookkeeping that includes account assignment and material that has already been prepared. Preparation quality is therefore an economic factor – even though the specific remuneration is always agreed with the tax advisory firm.
How BuchhaltIQ works inside the business
Instead of first creating a usable position at month-end, the app guides the business through tasks that arise anyway. It shows open items, links bank transactions with receipts and provides a controlled path through to month-end close.
Hospitality operators see the next step, not just a list of features. Bank transactions become visible, receipts can be assigned, cash movements are recorded and missing supporting documents remain easy to identify. The month-end assistant brings this information together and guides the user through the outstanding reviews.

- 02AssignTransactions & supporting documents
- 03ReviewOpen items remain visible
- 04CloseMonth prepared
This creates one shared working view that both the business and the tax firm can continue working with. For the hospitality operator, that means greater clarity during the current month. For the tax firm, it means structured data and fewer avoidable queries.

The tax firm continues to work in DATEV
BuchhaltIQ is a certified DATEV interface partner. DATEV Rechnungsdatenservice 1.0 and DATEV Lohnaustauschdatenservice connect approved receipt and payroll data with DATEV.
The important point is not to prescribe a new system for the tax firm. BuchhaltIQ prepares the position inside the business and transfers it to the system where the tax advisor continues the work. DATEV also recommends that the sector establish efficient bookkeeping processes together with tax advisors.
Month-end close does not begin at month-end. BuchhaltIQ makes accounting part of daily operations, so figures become understandable sooner, the handover becomes clearer and the hospitality operator and tax advisor work from the same information.
